Tubas

Tubas are the largest and lowest sounding member of the brass family. Like other brass instruments, the tuba is made of brass tubing that is coiled around on itself. If it were stretched out, the tubing for a BBb tuba would be nearly eighteen feet long! The tuba can be heard in many different ensembles including concert bands, orchestras, military bands, brass quintets and jazz groups. A tuba can be equipped with either rotary or piston valves, and also can be configured with three to six valves. There are tubas made that are smaller known as three quarter and half size tubas.
