Ken Hanson - Product Manager
|
I started out in music at a very early age. I first took piano and organ lessons from my grandmother around the age of six. Once I was introduced to music, it became a big part of my life. After learning how to read music from my grandmother, I became interested in learning how to play the alto saxophone in the fifth grade. I was a quick learner and caught the attention of the band director at my school, Mr. Larry Neuhauser. During my high school years, I tried out for and became a member of both the Indiana All-State Band and Orchestra. After high school, I further pursued an education in music by attending Ball State University. While attending Ball State I studied bassoon under the direction of Homer Pence and James Hanson on a scholar ship presented to me by Mr. Pence. My curriculum at Ball State included Music Theory, Music Composition, and Music Engineering. After graduating from Ball Sate in 1991, I moved to Elkhart, Indiana to find employment with one of the many musical manufactures based there, eventually landing a job with Conn-Selmer. My talents were put to use as a woodwind tester. I tested many different styles of clarinets, but my main task was to inspect and play test the oboes and bassoons. Currently I am a product manager with Music Factory Direct. I am also a member of several local music ensembles, including The Maple City Chamber Orchestra, The Elkhart Municipal Band, and I am frequently asked to play in the Elkhart Symphony Orchestra. |
