I'm giving this a 4 because I don't give 5 stars easily. I'm very pleased with my purchase directly from Music Factory Direct. I paid $319, free shipping (They currently [Oct 2010] have a discount code for it, and offer a free cleaning kit with brushes, valve oil, tuning slide grease, and a small polishing cloth.) Inventory: Horn arrived in "straight from the factory in China" condition", wrapped in two layers of plastic inside a hard case, with a mouthpiece and a pair of thin cotton "handling gloves". Case is hard with a nylon cloth covering, zips closed, comes with two straps that can be attached to any of six sturdy D rings if desired. Dimensions: about 8" inches from the top of the valves to the bottom pipe, 16-1/2" long with no mouthpiece and the lead pipe/tuning slide all the way in. Mouthpiece receiver inside diameter: 10.3 mm = 0.405". Bore, measured inside the 1st valve slide: 10.92 mm = 0.430" Mouthpiece: I saw another review that said "it comes with a #3C" I did some researh on the bizzare Vincent Bach numbering system, and it does match pretty close to a 3C their loose specs. 6.3 mm = 0.642" inside cup diameter, medium depth cup, cup is more V-shaped than bowl shaped, it seems to be a proper Fulgelhorn mouthpiece. Playing it: This thing SOUNDS BEAUTIFUL, definitely musical sounding, and can be played in tune (checked with an electronic tuner) with the supplied mouthpiece. I have no trumpet chops at all, and I'm getting beautiful music out of it in the low/middle register right away (after 25 years off from playing tuba). The valves worked nicely after an oiling, tuning slides including the 3rd valve trigger work freely, likewise for unscrewing and replacing the top and bottom valve caps.

Very pleased and a great price! Jun 20, 2010 The Vento Flugel Horn is great! I viewed many flugel horns that were double, triple or quadruple in price. I just couldn't believe I'd find one, especially a NEW one for under $500.00. I have played the horn and I'm very satisfied. Thanks Vento for allowing me to get this great horn at such a great price! The quality and sound of the horn has definitley impressed me!
